Background
The granddaughter of King Leonidas who led Sparta to glory at Thermopylae, Kassandra should have had a glorious life of her own ahead of her. But that was not what fate decreed. A prophecy decreed that her younger brother Alexios must be killed or Sparta would fall. He was to be thrown from Mount Taygetos to save the city. But Kassandra just saw her baby brother being harmed, and tried to save him. In doing so, she killed a priest and she, too, was thrown from the mountain. But she escaped, found a boat, and set herself adrift.
That was twenty-four years ago. She eked out a living as a mercenary, longing to find a way to pay her way off the tiny, dull island she was living on. Or at least get the local crime boss off her back. Her wish came true when a stranger hired her to kill a Spartan general, a job that would start a quest to:
